Founders
Jennifer Kwao is co-founder of 1.2 Diaries who has dedicated her career to advocating for climate justice and human rights focus in EU, AU, and UN policies. She currently works for Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe on trade and corporate accountability. Jennifer is also an experienced editor with a background in EU and international law and politics. As a social entrepreneur, she has developed several initiatives that strengthen diaspora and African collaboration, improve political representation, and empower young people in Europe and Africa.
Krystel Sil Sikana is co-founder of 1.2 Diaries and a passionate project manager specialising in EU-AU and UN initiatives on climate action and disaster risk reduction and diaspora leadership. Currently Krystel works at an UN-organization, where she drives impactful projects and advances key policy developments. She also co-founded a start-up, CUBE, based in The Gambia, that enhances science education in Africa. With a degree in Environmental Chemistry and ongoing specialization Environmental Science Research, she bridges research and real-world application for sustainable development.
Advisors
Lydia Ayame Hiraide is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Feminist Centre for Racial Justice. Her work thinks about ecological and Black feminist movement building. Lydia's doctoral research on intersectionality and British environmentalism at Goldsmiths, University of London received funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. She also has background in literature, the performing arts, and organising around climate and environmental issues in London.
Trainees
Jacobina is a master's student in Economics with a BSc in Agriculture, specialising in Agricultural Economics. She serves as the Regional Exchange Coordinator for the International Association of Students in Agriculture and Related Sciences (IAAS) Africa and doubles as the World Food Forum representative for IAAS Africa. Passionate about quality education and climate action, Jacobina volunteers with Greening Africa Together.
Tracy Amofa is a writer and poet, currently working as an editorial assistant for 1.2 Diaries. She is an English Literature graduate with published work in the literary magazine Expanded Field and the anthology A Womb with a Heart That Beats All Over the World.
Daniella is a final year Psychology major student. Currently serving as a social media assistant at 1.2 Diaries. She is experienced in influencer marketing and a tech enthusiast. Daniella has a keen interest in making education accessible to all.
